Chute du Carbet (2nd chute)

Chute du Carbet (2nd fall)There are three Carbet waterfalls ... the first fall .... 115 meters in two stages , the second fall , 110 meters high, and the third fall, the most "modest" , 20 meters, but through are high flow , it has a large pool at its base. Swimming possible..
The starting point to go to the second fall of Carbet is the same as to go to the first fall of Carbet and the third fall of Carbet. It starts at the reception area, located three kilometers of the Grand Etang. Possibility to meet the rangers of the National Park, that tell us about the ride. To go to the second fall : superb landscaped path through the rainforest .... A magnificent course consisting of bridges and wooden stairs. Congratulations to the national park for these developments. After 20 minutes walk .... The fall  some 110 meters high. This is the best known and most popular because easier access. Since the 2004 earthquake and torrential rain, can unfortunately no longer access the foot of the falls. We stop at a suspension bridge, which significantly reduces visibility. We only see a small part of the fall. Pity. However, the ride is beautifull, it's easy, one hour walk maximum roundtrip rainforest.

Our opinion: Nice ride . Easy , secure and short, for all people . Caution with slippery wooden planks due to moisture. The waterfall itself is hardly visible (see photo below left) . It is strictly forbidden to cross the barriers to access at the foot of the fall. The soil is unstable, landslides and mudslides can occur at any time. The best view of the fall is still above the visitor center of the national park . (photo bottom left ) . However, go to the end of this walk , to enjoy the rainforest !
